Missing Man At The Center Of A Massive Search Effort Across The Region Is Found Close To Home
Information provided by the public was instrumental in the safe location and recovery of the missing Dover man, NYSP said.

DOVER, NY — The search for a missing Dutchess County man has come to a close after the missing man was found close to home.
On Friday, at 5:56 p.m., the New York State Police were advised by Dutchess County 911 of a possible sighting of Ryan Courtien at the Harlem Valley–Wingdale Train Station, on Wheeler Road in the Town of Dover.
Members of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, who were nearby, responded to the location and confirmed that it was Courtien. He was taken to an area medical facility for evaluation, according to police.

"The New York State Police extend their appreciation to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, assisting law enforcement agencies, the media, and members of the public for their assistance, vigilance, and cooperation throughout this investigation," New York State Police said in a statement. "The information provided by the public was instrumental in the safe location and recovery of Ryan."
Days earlier, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation confirmed that Courtien was spotted on July 12, at 12:38 p.m., exiting a Metro-North train at Grand Central Terminal and walking toward Madison Avenue. Police said he appeared to be traveling alone. At the time, investigators believed he may have remained in the New York City area.

Before this sighting, the 49-year-old had last been seen at approximately 9:30 a.m., near Waldo Road in Dover, close to his home.


In a separate advisory, the New York State Police advised the public about an increased law enforcement presence related to the investigation, in the area of West Dover Road and Old Pawling Road, in the Town of Dover.
By Wednesday, the search in the town of Dover had concluded, as the Bureau of Criminal Investigation pursued other leads across the region.
