Weekend Taconic Rest Area Crash Leaves 2 Pedestrians Injured
An 84-year-old trying to park jumped the curb, striking two people on the sidewalk, according to New York State Police.

LAGRANGE, NY — A holiday weekend pit stop turned into a perilous detour for three Hudson Valley travelers.
On Friday, at approximately 2:20 p.m., New York State Police were dispatched to the Taste of New York rest area, at mile marker 46.6 on the Taconic State Parkway in LaGrange, for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle collision involving pedestrians.
Investigators say a 2014 Subaru was being driven by 84-year-old Charles W. Schaubhut, of Hudson. While attempting to park in a parking space at the rest stop, Schaubhut accelerated, causing the vehicle to travel over the curb and onto the sidewalk, striking two pedestrians, ages 67 and 71, both of Hillsdale, according to NYSP.
