• Governor Hochul Announces Program To Strengthen New York's Clean Energy Workforce (longisland.com) — Mount Vernon is receiving major state support for youth green-jobs training, including a $250,000 program in ground-source heat pump installation and another $250,000 initiative preparing local students for careers in urban forestry and horticulture. These grants will offer paid training, certifications, and career pathways in clean energy and environmental work. Local teens and young adults will soon have new options to build in-demand green skills close to home. 
• Dog Found Tied Tightly To Tree After Days Of Screaming In Mount Vernon — Now Up For Adoption (dailyvoice.com) — A severely neglected dog was discovered tied to a tree near South Fulton and East 5th Avenues in Mount Vernon after reportedly screaming for two days before police were alerted. Now safe with the Humane Society of Westchester, she's been named Journey and is described as very sweet. Mount Vernon residents can apply online to adopt her and give her a permanent home.
• Westchester and other HV playground projects to receive state funding (westfaironline.com) — Mount Vernon is set to receive $1.5 million in state funding to expand and improve the playground at Brush Park, part of a broader NY PLAYS investment in Westchester. Local families can expect a larger, more accessible play space as the city joins nearby communities like Ardsley, New Rochelle, Pound Ridge, and Peekskill in upgrading parks and playgrounds.
