The 10 NYC Neighborhoods Where Housing Inventory Have Soared: See Report
Buyers this year can expect more options on the market, especially in these New York City neighborhoods.
NEW YORK CITY — Ten neighborhoods in New York City saw the most growth in inventory of homes for sale to end last year and will give buyers more options on the market into 2026, according to a new report.
Brooklyn proved to have the most inventory in the market, according to StreetEasy. The borough had six neighborhoods in the top 10 list followed by Queens who had three neighborhood make the list and Manhattan only secured one spot.
The Bronx and Staten Island were not included in the list.

Other findings from the report include:
- Citywide housing inventory is up by 9.3 percent
- Brooklyn rental inventory rose 10.1 percent to 3,434 homes, while Queens saw the largest jump, a 17.7 percent increase to 2,675 homes.
- Brighton Beach topped the list with the most significant inventory growth in December 2025, soaring by almost 49 percent
- Bushwick and Midwood were other Brooklyn neighborhoods that experienced substantial annual increases in inventory.
- Flushing came in second with a 48 percent jump, the largest increase among Queens neighborhoods.
- The citywide median asking rent increased by 7.6 percent from last year to $3,874, with prewar buildings driving growth in Manhattan.
- The median asking price for homes citywide decreased 2.4 percent from last year to $1.025 million.
