9 Injured After Escalator Accident At Broadway Theater: FDNY
The incident happened inside the Gershwin Theatre in Midtown.
NEW YORK CITY — Three people were injured after an escalator malfunctioned at a Broadway theater in Midtown Wednesday evening.
The incident happened inside the Gershwin Theatre at 222 West 51st Street around 5:12 p.m.
According to the FDNY, nine people suffered minor injuries when the escalator malfunctioned. All were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

One child suffered a hand injury while another injured their leg. An adult also injured their hand, police said.
The Gershwin Theatre is home to the Broadway show "Wicked." A 7 p.m. show went ahead as scheduled.

The Department of Buildings is investigating the incident.
