Locust Valley Students Hit The Beach – And Leave It Cleaner Than They Found It

Students collected 25 pounds of trash at Stehli Beach while conducting hands-on water quality and ecology research.

BAYVILLE, NY — Locust Valley students headed to the beach, but they weren't there to swim or soak up the sun.

Instead, 31 students spent the day at Stehli Beach in Bayville rolling up their sleeves for a shoreline cleanup and hands-on environmental research project.

Assisted by teacher Donna Fredericks and Friends of the Bay program coordinator Marianna Eades, the students collected 25 pounds of trash from the North Shore beach.
