LI's St. Liberata Festival Rescheduled Due to Nor'Easter: Officials

PATCHOGUE, NY — Ciao! Attenzione!

The Greater Patchogue Foundation's Cultural Heritage Committee’s Italian feast of St. Liberata this Saturday, has been moved to Oct. 3 due to the expected Nor'Easter, officials said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

The post featured video from previous events, and ended with, "We can't wait to see you there."

"We know this is not the news anyone was hoping for, and we understand that changing the date can create challenges for our members, vendors, and the community," the foundation stated in an email to chamber members. "However, with the weather conditions expected, we feel this is the best decision to ensure the safety and enjoyment of everyone attending and participating in the event.

"We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Oct. 3 brings us beautiful, sunny fall weather and that the new date works well for everyone," it continued.

"Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and continued support of the Greater Patchogue community," the announcement read. "We look forward to celebrating the Feast of St. Liberata with everyone on Oct. 3."

The festival was set to honor Linda Locantore as Italian-American of the Year.

It will include a procession with a statue of St. Liberata, as well as a marching band. There will also be children’s activities, rides, and amusements, as well as retail vendors.

It will run from 12 to 6 p.m. on Main Street.
