"Domestic violence does not always end when a relationship does; it often escalates."

PATCHOGUE, NY — A Patchogue man was indicted after he was accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend's 22-year-old son multiple times in the head, neck, and shoulder, the Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced on Friday.

After an investigation, it was determined that on April 17, Robert Schreiber's long-term girlfriend ended their relationship and locked him out of her Patchogue home, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said.

Schreiber, 42, was accused of entering the home through an unlocked window the following morning at approximately 8 a.m. – while everyone was asleep, the SCDA's office said. Schreiber went to the 22-year-old son's room, kicked in the door, and stabbed him seven times, the SCDA's office said. The 22-year-old's family members intervened and called 911, which allowed him to escape, the SCDA's office said.
