Suffolk Officers Called To Bellport High School On Friday, For 3rd Time In The Week Since Class Resumed: PD

BELLPORT, NY — Officers responded to Bellport High School Friday morning for the third time in the week since classes resumed, Suffolk police said.

The officers were called to the school at 7:45 a.m. for a verbal altercation, but no arrests were made, according to police.

Officers were first called to the school, which is located on Beaver Dam Road, for "a domestic incident" on Sept. 10 just before 11 a.m., and an arrest was made but due to the age of the person, nothing more will be released, police said.

Then the next day, on Sept. 11, they were called to the school for "a non-criminal incident," according to police.

Parents and community members spoke out about student safety during a South Country Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, News 12 reported.

Interim Superintendent John Dolan explained that the district’s responsibility is to both respond to misconduct, as well protecting students’ rights, adding, “Children make mistakes. Our job is to try and fix them,” the outlet reported.

Police were called to the high school twice last week, and charges will be filed, Dolan said, pointing out that the involved parties are entitled to due process under the law, according to the outlet.
