• Deepwells Mansion to host Halloween horror film festival (newsday.com) — A new Halloween horror film festival at Deepwells Mansion in St. James will premiere the supernatural thriller "Mittens," which was partly filmed in Plainview and Ronkonkoma. Local movie fans can catch more than 25 indie horror films, meet filmmakers, and even enter a costume contest, with tickets available now for the Oct. 31 screenings in a heated outdoor tent.
