She Died 3 Days Later (parade.com) — Port Chester gets a notable shoutout as the bar where Janis Joplin and friends created and debuted "Mercedes Benz" just before her 1970 Capitol Theatre show. The story traces how that impromptu moment at Vahsen's bar led to her haunting final studio recording days later in Los Angeles and the posthumous success of her album Pearl.
