Man Airlifted After 3-Vehicle Crash In Shoreham Saturday: Police

He hit 2 vehicles, causing 1 to careen off the roadway and hit several trees, police say.

SHOREHAM, NY — A Flushing man was seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash in Shoreham Saturday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Route 25A near Defense Hill Road at 9:32 a.m.

Jianhua Zhou, 45, was driving a 2014 Toyota Sienna eastbound on Route 25A when the vehicle struck the rear of a 2010 Ford Transit, causing the Ford to leave the roadway and strike several trees near Defense Hill Road, police said.

Next, he continued eastbound and struck a westbound 2023 Ford, police said.

Zhou was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the 2010 Ford, Lawrence Lederer, 36, of Miller Place, and a passenger, Bryan Wilson, 37, of Rocky Point, were uninjured, police said.

The driver of the 2023 Ford, Piotr Ratkiewicz, 57, of Port Jefferson, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

The crash led to a closure of the roadway Saturday.

All three vehicles were impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
