The 1,000-square-foot space features interactive digital games, toy-themed exhibits, and family-friendly seating, complementing the existing Strong play zone in Concourse B and giving kids more to do while waiting for flights.
   

2. Venus Williams to headline YWCA's 20th annual Empowering Women Luncheon (13wham.com) — Rochester residents will soon have a chance to see Venus Williams headline the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County's 20th Empowering Women Luncheon on October 7 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The event supports local YWCA programs and celebrates women's achievements, with organizers sharing how community members can attend and get involved.
   

3. Rochester souvenir shops report spike in Lake Ontario merchandise demand after Trump signs executive order renaming it Lake America (whec.com) — Rochester shop owners say Lake Ontario-themed shirts, hats, and souvenirs are selling out after President Trump's order to rename the lake "Lake America," as locals double down on the original name. Stores like Lake Ontario Press, Pretty Apothecary, and Rochester Souvenir Shop are rushing to restock, crediting the surge with boosting their bottom lines.
   

4. Various districts within the Finger Lakes to get new free pre-K seats (whec.com) — Families in the Rochester City School District are among those gaining access to new free pre-K seats as part of a statewide expansion announced by Gov. Kathy Hochul. Forty-two Finger Lakes districts, including Rochester, Greece, Penfield, and Webster, will benefit as New York moves toward universal pre-K to help lower childcare costs.
   

5. Pittsburgh woman seeking asylum arrested by ICE agents (cbsnews.com) — A Pittsburgh mother seeking asylum was detained by ICE while traveling to Rochester and has since been moved among several detention centers, now in El Paso. Her attorney says her asylum case will continue in immigration court, while family and friends track her situation and worry about the impact on her 12-year-old son.
