Man Charged With Felony DWI After Selden Crash: Police

He was previously arrested for DWI within the last 10 years, Suffolk police say.

SELDEN, NY — A man was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge after a crash in Selden on Saturday, Suffolk police said.

Edwin Hernandez, 41, was behind the wheel of a 2014 Honda Civic that rear-ended a 2025 Volkswagen at the intersection of Blue Point and Middle Country roads at around 2:45 p.m., according to police.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt in the crash.

Hernandez, whose address was not available, was charged with aggravated DWI, a felony, police said. He was previously arrested for DWI within the last 10 years, according to police.

He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, and was released on his own recognizance, online court records show.

His driver's license was also suspended pending the outcome of his case, according to the records.
