Selden Dad Gets 25 Years in Prison After 'Disgusting Acts,' Sexually Abusing His Daughter: DA

The abuse started in the summer of 2015, when the girl was 5 years old, and escalated, DA Ray Tierney says.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A 47-year-old Selden father was sentenced this week to 25 years in prison and 20 years post-release supervision after sexually abusing his daughter when she was just five years old, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

He was found guilty during a bench trial of first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child last September, the DA said.

The DA’s office is not naming the man to protect the girl’s identity.

Patch has reached out to his attorney, Anthony LaPinta of Hauppauge, for comment.

“It is unconscionable that a father would subject his own daughter to years of such disgusting acts of sexual abuse,” Tierney said. “Our hearts go out to the victim who was extremely brave in coming forward after everything that she endured, and we will continue to provide unwavering support for her as she navigates the path to healing from this egregious crime.”

In the summer of 2015, when the victim was five years old, the father began touching the girl while her mother was not home, and the abuse escalated, only coming to an end when he moved out of the house and no longer had access to the girl, prosecutors said.

The girl held onto the secret for several years, but eventually told school officials, and the man was arrested in April 2024 after an investigation by the Suffolk County Police Department, according to prosecutors.
