10-Year-Old Boy On E-Bike Seriously Injured In Lake Ronkonkoma Crash: Police

The boy was thrown from the e-bike after being struck by a Porsche Thursday night, police say.

LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A 10-year-old boy riding an e-bike was seriously injured in a crash in Lake Ronkonkoma Thursday night, Suffolk County police said.

A 27-year-old Ronkonkoma man was driving a 2020 Porsche Macan south on Patchogue-Holbrook Road and turning right onto Richard Place at about 8:30 p.m. when the SUV struck 10-year-old Mason Mereroa, of Holbrook, police said.

Mason was operating a 2025 e-bike north in the southbound shoulder of the service lane when he was struck and thrown from the e-bike, police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The driver was not injured.

The SUV and e-bike were impounded for safety checks, police said.
