LI MRI Tech Made Teen Pose In Sexually Suggestive Positions During Exam: DA
A 16-year-old went to a Bohemia office for a hamstring MRI; prosecutors said the technician ordered unnecessary, exposing poses.
BOHEMIA, NY — A former MRI technician in Bohemia was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child after prosecutors said he instructed a 16-year-old girl to undress and pose in sexually suggestive positions during a routine MRI exam for a soccer injury.
Robbie Baguio, 37, of Wheatley Heights, was found guilty following a bench trial of one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney's office said.

Baguio was sentenced Aug. 13 to a conditional discharge, a mandatory surcharge and a stay-away order of protection for the victim, prosecutors said.

The case stemmed from an Oct. 1, 2023, appointment at the Bohemia branch of Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group, where the girl went for an MRI of her hamstring after suffering a soccer injury, according to the DA's office. Baguio had worked there as an MRI technician since 2022.
Before the exam, prosecutors said Baguio instructed the teenager to remove her shorts and underwear without initially providing her with a covering.

The girl, who had previously undergone an MRI with another technician without incident, questioned whether she needed to undress, prosecutors said. Baguio repeated the instruction, and she was then provided with a medical gown that tied only at the neck, leaving her back exposed unless she held it closed.
During the exam, Baguio first instructed the girl to lie on her back inside the MRI machine and took several images, according to prosecutors.
He then told her that he had not obtained a sufficient image and instructed her to turn onto her hands and knees, lower herself onto her forearms, raise her buttocks and arch her back, prosecutors said. The positions exposed her genital area and buttocks.
No MRI images were taken while the teenager was in those later positions, prosecutors said.
After the exam, Baguio gave the girl a towel to cover herself, according to the DA's office. She immediately told her mother what had happened, and police were contacted.
Expert testimony at trial established that the additional positions were unnecessary for a standard MRI of a hamstring injury and that the images taken while the teenager was lying on her back were sufficient for diagnosis, prosecutors said.
Baguio was arrested June 6, 2024, and waived his right to a jury trial. His bench trial began Aug. 5, 2025, before District Court Judge Eric Sachs.
Sachs found Baguio guilty on June 11, 2026.
At sentencing, the DA's office recommended a maximum split sentence of 60 days in jail and three years of probation, along with sex offender conditions and an order of protection. The Suffolk County Probation Department recommended probation with alcohol and narcotics conditions, prosecutors said.
Sachs instead sentenced Baguio to a conditional discharge, along with the mandatory surcharge and stay-away order.
Baguio was represented by attorney Peter Brill, who was not immediately available for comment.
“This defendant was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child for using his authority as a healthcare technician to prey on a young girl who was simply in need of a routine exam,” Tierney said. “I commend the brave young victim for coming forward and having the courage to confront the defendant’s actions in court.”
Tierney said anyone who had a similar experience with Baguio should contact the Suffolk County Police Department or the DA's office.
