Man Stabs Another In Fight On Street In Shirley: Police

The man, 51, was taken by private vehicle to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in East Patchogue with serious injuries, Suffolk police say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A Mastic Beach man has been charged in connection with stabbing another in Shirley on Sunday, Suffolk police said.

It was the first of two stabbings, including one fatal, in the Mastic-Shirley area over this Labor Day weekend. A son stabbed his father to death in Mastic early Monday.

Anthony Thompson was arguing with a man on West Parkview Drive, when he stabbed him just before 3 p.m., and the man, 51, was taken by private vehicle to NYU Langone Hospital – Suffolk in East Patchogue with serious injuries, according to police.

Thompson, 25, was charged with first-degree assault, and was held overnight at the 7th Precinct in Shirley pending his arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Monday.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
