Mastic Woman Neglected 3-Year-Old Dog Found Underweight With Severe Parasite Infestation: SPCA
The Shih Tzu, "Nubbies," had not received veterinary care since she was around six-to-seven weeks old, Chief Roy Gross says.
MASTIC, NY — A 35-year-old Mastic woman has been arrested in connection with animal cruelty after an investigation into the neglect of her dog, Suffolk Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Chief Roy Gross said.
Earlier this month, investigators determined she failed to provide adequate care for her three-year-old female black Shih Tzu, "Nubbies," and ss a result of the neglect, the dog was underweight and suffering from severe flea and intestinal worm infestations, as well as heavily-matted fur, according to Gross.
Investigators also learned the dog had not received veterinary care since she was around six-to-seven weeks old, he said, adding that "Nubbies" is now receiving the necessary medical treatment at a local animal shelter.
