Smithtown-based real estate owner Cristofer Damianos has been appointed to fill the vacant trustee seat, with officials emphasizing limits on overdevelopment and preserving the village's green, rural character.
   

4. Longtime St. John's football coach Bob Ricca dead at 79 (amedpost.com) — Longtime St. John's University football coach Bob Ricca, who led the program from club status to Division I-AA and earned 15 winning seasons, has died at 79. Local residents can pay their respects at his wake Friday at Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown, with a funeral mass Saturday morning at Christ the King in Commack.
