Children reunited with friends, met new classmates, and settled into classrooms amid smiles and enthusiastic greetings from the school community.
   

• Suffolk prosecutor Joseph Carroll fired following alleged drunken driving arrest, DA's office says (newsday.com) — A Southampton resident and Suffolk County prosecutor, Joseph Carroll, was fired after being charged with driving while intoxicated following a morning crash in Quogue. Officials say he refused chemical tests multiple times, while his attorney says he denies the allegations and has pleaded not guilty as a special prosecutor is expected to handle the case.
