The Studio Around The Corner

This immersive event explores racial justice and moral responsibility through performances from the play “Not Disposable”. A multi-disciplinary production that uses spoken word, visual art, media and more. The event concludes in a panel discussion as well as a community dialogue examining art as activism and how creative expression can inspire understanding, conversation and collective action for social change.
On the walls on the Studio will be Steve Parlato's hard-hitting touring art show "They Are Not Disposable," a collection of collage portraits of slain victims of racial violence made with garbage and found objects.
Admission: $15 suggested donation

Writers Round provides&nbsp;an affordable, community-based space where writers can test ideas, receive constructive feedback, and build meaningful artistic connections.&nbsp;​This is a forum&nbsp;created by writers, for writers—a welcoming, supportive environment to explore, test, and refine your work. Whether you’re just beginning your writing journey or you’re a seasoned storyteller, this space is built on the belief that we all have something to learn from one another.

Free waterfront concert on the Hudson River at Kaal Rock Park.&nbsp; For our final concert of the season at Kaal Rock Park, we will present NY State of Ska! Four NY ska bands have teamed up this summer to tour the state.&nbsp; The Abruptors from Buffalo, Girth Control from Albany, The Doomstompers from Queens and Poughkeepsie's own Ben Basile have been making the rounds with their distinct takes on ska, rocksteady, ska-punk and reggae.&nbsp; Poughkeepsie will be their final stop - don't miss it!&nbsp; &nbsp;The 1915 Wine Cellar and Hudson Valley Falafel will be on hand so you can make it an afternoon picnic.&nbsp; Bring a chair or blanket.Kaal Rock Park Conserts are presented with the support of The City of Poughkeepsie and Central Hudson.&nbsp; The rain location is the 2nd floor theater at Darkside Records, 32 Cannon St.&nbsp; Follow Kaal Rock Park Concerts on Facebook and Instagram for updates.

Arts on the Lake

Saturday, September 26th at 4:30 p.m. Arts on the Lake's company in residence, PCDP, presents dances inspired by the 250th anniversary of our country's Declaration of Independence and Revolution. The program features repertory from modern dance revolutionary Isadora Duncan ("Revolutionary," "The Crossing," and "Nightride"), along with reimagined work in the Duncan technique by Faith Kimberling and Marie Carstens. Additional pieces range from elegant, stirring work by Erin Jennings featuring music by local composer Andres Luis Virola, to an homage created by Steven Jeltsch expressing the emotional volatility experienced by loved ones waiting at home as soldiers go to war.
 After-Party Fundraising Reception (Saturday, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) Join us for a light reception in the lower gallery of Arts on the Lake following Saturday's performance. Tickets can be purchased in advance in combination with the show for $40 (Dance Supporter ticket) or separately at the door for $25. Regular performance tickets may also be purchased in advance or at the door for $25.Support and Acknowledgments Thank you to the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley and REV250 for supporting this program.
