Felony Reckless Endangerment Charge After Wrong-Way I-84 SUV Stopped With Spike Strips: NYSP
The 41-year-old driver had a BAC of more than twice the legal limit, according to New York State Police.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A wrong-way vehicle on the highway had to be stopped with spike strips. Now, the driver is facing a felony charge.
On June 28, at 1:38 a.m., New York State Police were notified by Dutchess County 911 of a vehicle traveling east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84, near mile marker 57.0 in the Town of East Fishkill.
Members of the New York State Police in Brewster, with the assistance of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, located a 2024 GMC traveling east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84, near mile marker 66 in the Town of Southeast.

Troopers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, bringing the vehicle to a stop.
During the investigation, the driver and sole occupant, identified as 41-year-old Edward Navedo, of Germantown, exhibited signs of intoxication, according to troopers.

Navedo was taken into custody and taken to State Police Brewster for processing, where he submitted to a chemical breath test that yielded a blood alcohol content of 0.19 percent, according to NYSP.
Navedo has been charged with felony reckless endangerment, aggravated driving while intoxicated (BAC of 0.18% or more), and reckless driving.
He was arraigned in the Town of Kent Court and released on his own recognizance. Navedo is scheduled to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on July 9.
