Onondaga County Panel Wants Complete Streets To Actually Get Built (streetsblog.org) — Onondaga County's Housing and Transportation Citizens Advisory Board wants future county road funding tied to actually building sidewalks, bike lanes and safer routes around Syracuse and nearby suburbs. Their recommendations, aimed at improving access for residents without cars, will debut at a Sept. 1 open house on Harrison Street in downtown Syracuse.
   

2. 15 candidates from around the globe become U.S. citizens at Syracuse naturalization ceremony (informnny.com) — Fifteen people from countries including Haiti, Liberia, India, Nepal and Egypt just became U.S. citizens at a naturalization ceremony in downtown Syracuse's federal courthouse. With Onondaga County officials and Syracuse Mayor Sharon Owens welcoming them, several new citizens shared how military service, family ties and years of effort led them to call Syracuse and the U.S. home.
   

3. How Dolly Parton's legacy has impacted over 66,000 Onondaga County children (informnny.com) — Syracuse-area families are seeing Dolly Parton's Imagination Library transform early literacy, with more than 66,000 Onondaga County children having received free books since 2010. Local organizers say the monthly mailings help parents read with their kids, prepare them for school, and carry on Parton's legacy of kindness and opportunity even after her death.
   

4. Food allergies at the New York State Fair? Here's some options. (cnycentral.com) — If you're heading to the New York State Fair in Syracuse with food allergies or celiac disease, there are more options than you might think. Vendors like Hot Roasted Corn and Baga Bowls on the Go highlight meat-free, dairy-free and gluten-free choices, and staff encourage asking about ingredients so you can safely enjoy fair food.
   

5. Syracuse Mets lose 6-4 on Robert Moore walk-off homer (syracuse.com) — Syracuse Mets fans saw a tough loss Friday as a Robert Moore walk-off homer gave Lehigh Valley a 6-4 win in Allentown. Syracuse led twice, including on a two-run single by Billy Amick, and will try to bounce back in a Saturday doubleheader at Coca-Cola Park.
