ā¢ $215M approved for water, sewer upgrades across 26 counties after Helene damage (newschannel9.com) ā Black Mountain is set to receive nearly $4.9 million to strengthen its drinking water system after damage from Helene, part of a $215 million statewide infrastructure package. The funds will support resiliency upgrades so local taps stay reliable during future storms. Several other Western North Carolina communities are also getting money for water and sewer improvements.

ā¢ Early morning fire in Buncombe County kills 1, no foul play suspected (citizen-times.com) ā Black Mountainās Fire Marshalās Office helped respond to a deadly early-morning house fire in the Broad River community on April 15, where a man died despite multiple rescue attempts. Officials say the blaze appears accidental, likely linked to a portable heater, and no foul play is suspected. The investigation is ongoing and more details may be released later. Ā Ā Ā
