Buskers Fest returning to downtown Boone in September (wataugademocrat.com) ā Downtown Boone will come alive on Saturday, Sept. 12, when the Watauga Arts Councilās free Buskers Fest returns with live music, performances, and interactive arts from 1 to 5 p.m. Launched in 2021 as a COVID-safe outdoor celebration, the festival now draws a diverse mix of artists and visitors to explore Booneās creative community. Longtime local favorite Melissa Reaves returns from Bisbee, Arizona, to headline a June 20 rock-and-soul show at the Appalachian Theatre. Dale celebrates 100th with family (oxfordeagle.com) ā Boone native Judy Aldridge Dale, born and raised in the High Country before spending most of her married life in Asheville, recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by four generations of family in Oxford, Mississippi. Loved for her big Sunday dinners and lifelong passion for gardening, she has adapted her green thumb from Booneās mountain climate to Mississippi soil. Dale credits her longevity partly to good genes, noting her mother lived to 105. Ā Ā Ā
