Melissa Reaves returning to Boonerang (wataugademocrat.com) ā Boonerang Music and Arts Festival will pack downtown Boone June 19ā21, with free performances across multiple indoor and outdoor venues and a strong focus on artists tied to the High Country. Longtime local favorite Melissa Reaves returns from Bisbee, Arizona, to headline a June 20 rock-and-soul show at the Appalachian Theatre. The lineup spans gospel, funk, world music, and more, plus a new International Day on Sunday.

Gray Becomes NCAA All-American With 5th-Place Pole Vault Finish (appstatesports.com) ā An App State pole vaulter with roots just three hours from Boone has earned first-team All-America honors with a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. His record-setting season and national ranking add fresh prestige to the Boone-based track and field program, giving local fans another standout Mountaineer to cheer as he competes among the nationās best.

4. Dale celebrates 100th with family (oxfordeagle.com) ā Boone native Judy Aldridge Dale, born and raised in the High Country before spending most of her married life in Asheville, recently celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by four generations of family in Oxford, Mississippi. Loved for her big Sunday dinners and lifelong passion for gardening, she has adapted her green thumb from Booneās mountain climate to Mississippi soil. Dale credits her longevity partly to good genes, noting her mother lived to 105.
