1. Man wanted in connection with double homicide in Concord remains at large (wsoctv.com) — Concord police are still searching for 18-year-old Kamari Porter, wanted in connection with a February double homicide on Fairington Drive NW, and are urging residents not to approach him but to call 911 or local tip lines. Four other suspects from Concord and Davidson have already been arrested, while two Monroe men were killed and two others injured in the shooting.
   

2. Robins & Morton Completes Modular Emergency Department in North Carolina (constructionowners.com) — A new freestanding Atrium Health emergency department has been completed in Concord, adding a 10-bed, 11,021-square-foot facility built with fast modular construction. This project is meant to expand emergency care access for the growing community while reducing on-site disruption and speeding up how quickly services come online.
   

3. Mustang Week Brings Exciting New Street Kings Class to zMax (dragzine.com) — Mustang Week 2026 is bringing an all-new Street Kings drag racing class to zMax Dragway in Concord, focused on true street-driven Fords. With strict street-car rules, multiple performance divisions, and an $8,000 purse, local enthusiasts can expect packed fields, blind qualifying drama, and plenty of action just up the road.
   

4. This Mexican Chain Restaurant Is Closing More Locations After Failing To Come Back From Bankruptcy (tastingtable.com) — On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina is reportedly closing its Concord Mills location in Concord, adding our city to a nationwide wave of shutdowns after the chain’s bankruptcy. With some restaurants saying Friday could be their last day, Concord diners may have only a short window left to visit before doors close for good.
