• Davidson accepting applications for Tree Canopy Enhancement Program (statesville.com) — Davidson is now taking applications for its 2026–27 Tree Canopy Enhancement Program, which helps residents and community groups plant and protect trees on private property. With most replanting space on residential lots, the town stresses that homeowner participation is crucial to keeping neighborhoods cooler, improving air quality, and strengthening stormwater protection across Davidson. 
• Charlotte-area colleges install new towers to track migratory birds (wbtv.com) — New wildlife-tracking towers at Davidson College are now helping scientists monitor tagged birds, bats, and butterflies as they migrate through our region. Connected to the global Motus network, the system lets anyone go online to follow animal movements and gives local students hands-on experience with cutting-edge conservation research.
