• School funded by Education Lottery opens in North Carolina (myfox8.com) — A brand-new Eastman Leadership Academy has opened in Enfield, funded largely by $48.5 million from the North Carolina Education Lottery, and will serve pre-K through eighth-grade students in Halifax County Schools. The 101,000-square-foot campus replaces the original Eastman school that closed in 2009, and local leaders and alumni say the opening feels like a homecoming for the community.
