• Notice of Intent to Issue an NPDES Wastewater Permit NC0042528 Saxapahaw WWTP (nc.gov) — A wastewater treatment plant in nearby Saxapahaw is seeking renewal of its permit to discharge treated domestic wastewater into the Haw River, which could affect future pollution limits on this stretch of the river. State regulators are taking public comments through September 8 and may hold a hearing if enough residents speak up. 
• Chatham County leaders consider 28-mile natural gas pipeline (wral.com) — Chatham County commissioners are meeting Wednesday night to weigh a 28‑mile natural gas pipeline that would cross waterways including the Haw River, raising local water‑quality concerns. Environmental advocates want the board to formally oppose the project or adopt protections, while the pipeline company says it is still refining the route and engaging residents.
