Huntersville considers helmet requirement, fines for young e-bike riders (wsoctv.com) — Huntersville leaders are weighing new e-bike rules that would require riders under 18 to wear helmets, cap speeds below 28 mph, and fine minors $50 if caught without helmets. The proposed ordinance, drafted with Huntersville Police and Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, responds to risky riding on local roads and could be adjusted as e-bike use grows.
   

2. Huntersville commissioner's son charged in homicide (lakenormanpublications.com) — Huntersville residents are learning that a local man, the son of a town commissioner, has been charged with first-degree murder in a Charlotte shooting, while he remains in jail without bond. His parents say they surrendered him to police and urge people to await the justice system's findings. Huntersville police are separately investigating shots fired near the family's home and are asking witnesses or anyone with video to come forward.
   

3. Harris Teeter Commits $253M To Charlotte Refreshes, 3 New Stores (theshelbyreport.com) — Harris Teeter plans to renovate its Huntersville store as part of a $253 million, three-year investment to modernize locations across the Charlotte region. Expect upgrades that could include expanded fresh foods, layout changes, and improved pickup and delivery services, with phased rollouts and grand reopening celebrations starting this fall.
   

4. Huntersville cotillion carries on tradition with a modern twist (lakenormanpublications.com) — Huntersville families can sign up middle schoolers for a modern cotillion at Magnolia Woods that focuses on social skills, confidence, and fun, not stuffy formality. Instructor and Bailey Middle teacher Joanna Kunz blends classic dances with pop music while teaching etiquette, conversation, and phone-free interaction. Registration and schedules are available through her Today's Manners program online.
   

5. NC legislature's I-77 toll project penalty may force Charlotte to flip — again (charlotteobserver.com) — Huntersville is one of several Mecklenburg-area jurisdictions that could face financial penalties if they don't help revive the I-77 South toll lane project, after state lawmakers tied millions in repayments to local votes. While Charlotte holds the biggest share, Huntersville's CRTPO stance still matters as leaders weigh community impacts, promised investments, and the risk of losing future transportation funding.
