• Record crowds attend meeting to express concerns over NC mosque (wspa.com) — Mooresville residents packed Tuesday night's town board meeting to debate a new Islamic Center of Lake Norman mosque already under construction on Swift Arrow Drive. Town leaders stressed zoning laws give them little power to block the project and urged neighbors to respect one another as more residents, including faith leaders, voiced support alongside ongoing opposition. 
• Mooresville mayor announces he will 'retire' at end of September (iredellfreenews.com) — Mooresville Mayor Chris Carney says he'll step down at the end of September, calling it a retirement after months of controversy and a board no-confidence vote. He cites completing his goals and wanting more family time, while Mayor Pro Tem Eddie Dingler is set to be sworn in as the next mayor.
