Photos: Disney reveals plans for Asteria club in North Carolina (myfox8.com) — Disney has released new renderings and details for Asteria, its massive Storyliving community planned inside Chatham Park in Pittsboro, including the Second Star Club with pools, dining, and creative spaces. More than 4,000 homes are envisioned, with sales starting in 2027 and first residents expected in 2028, promising a major new residential and entertainment hub just minutes from downtown Pittsboro.
   

2. Northern section of Chatham Park Way opens in Chatham County: NCDOT (cbs17.com) — Drivers in and around Pittsboro now have a new stretch of Chatham Park Way open northeast of town, connecting Suttles Road near the U.S. 64 interchange to Grant Drive. The four-lane divided road cost about $19 million, with another $15 million section toward U.S. 15/501 expected by early fall 2027, promising more changes to local traffic patterns.
   

3. Names of people killed in Manns Chapel Road house fire released by Chatham County Sheriff's Office (cbs17.com) — Authorities in Pittsboro have identified the two people who died in the April 11 house fire on Manns Chapel Road as Ethan Douglas Long, 52, and Kristen Lea Hancock, 56. Investigators say the blaze was accidental, tracing it to a fire pit used on the home’s back deck the previous night, and local officials are offering condolences to the families.
   

4. Intricate influences: Carolina Detour to play Merlefest (smokymountainnews.com) — A rising bluegrass band, Carolina Detour, has already played the Shakori Hills festival near Pittsboro, adding local flavor to their growing list of major appearances. The young group, led by 16-year-old fiddler Lake Carver, is returning to MerleFest this spring while working on original songs and plans for a debut album that blends traditional bluegrass with modern influences.
