After leaving school pregnant at 15 and working for decades, she’s now mastering computers, loving math, and continuing classes with hopes of becoming a nurse like her mother. 
• Partners celebrate BEST Center construction milestone (wilsontimes.com) — Rocky Mount is highlighted as part of a growing “biopharma crescent” that will benefit from the new BEST Center, a biomanufacturing training hub under construction in nearby Wilson. State and local leaders say the center will feed good-paying jobs across eastern North Carolina, aiming to keep young people in communities like Rocky Mount instead of moving to big cities.
