• Police investigate shooting, crash at Sanford apartment complex (abc11.com) — Police are investigating an early Wednesday shooting and related crash at an apartment complex off Oak Branch Lane in Sanford, near U.S. 1. An SUV slammed into three parked vehicles, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office car, prompting a large police response; officials say a medical helicopter was called then canceled, and they have not yet confirmed injuries or suspect details. 
• Sanford police investigating fatal shooting of teen (sanfordherald.com) — Sanford police are investigating an early-morning shooting at The Oaks Apartments that left a 17-year-old Sanford resident dead after his vehicle crashed into several parked cars, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office cruiser. Officers were called to Oak Branch Lane around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and found the teen with a gunshot wound; he died while being taken for treatment, and investigators say the case remains active with few details released.
• ‘Freaking out': Sanford mom wins $865,960 with NC lottery digital jackpot (cbs17.com) — A Sanford mother hit an $865,960 digital jackpot while making lunch for her daughters, winning the top “Epic jackpot” prize in the NC Education Lottery’s Bison Bonanza game. With 1-in-31-million odds, she claimed her prize in Raleigh, taking home over $623,000 after taxes, and says the family plans to use the money to help her husband start a business.
