• City of Akron Opens Applications for 2026–2027 Mayor's Youth Leadership Council (thereporternewspaperonline.com) — Akron high school students entering grades 10–12 can now apply for the 2026–2027 Mayor's Youth Leadership Council, a yearlong program connecting them with city government and community leaders. Residents with at least a 2.5 GPA who live in Akron will join monthly sessions on civic engagement, public safety, and service while helping shape youth-focused priorities.
   

• City of Akron and Summit County Land Bank Unveil New 'Made in Akron' Home Plans (thereporternewspaperonline.com) — Akron officials have rolled out 10 pre-reviewed "Made in Akron" home designs and a companion pattern book to make it easier and cheaper to build new houses that fit local neighborhoods. The plans, created with Akron-based Grassroots Architecture and the Summit County Land Bank, aim to boost housing supply, reuse vacant lots, and support residents pursuing homeownership across the city.
   

• ICJA gives award to 9th District Court of Appeals Judge Nathan Manning (chroniclet.com) — Akron residents should know that the 9th District Court of Appeals, based in the city and serving Summit and nearby counties, is in the spotlight as Judge Nathan Manning receives a statewide community justice award. Recently appointed by Gov. Mike DeWine, he's now running in November to complete the term, facing Summit County Clerk of Courts Tavia Galonski.
