1. Cleveland Heights synagogue sues Cuyahoga Land Bank after eviction (cleveland19.com) — A longtime Taylor Road synagogue near Cain Park has sued the Cuyahoga Land Bank after its congregation was evicted from their Cleveland Heights building just before Rosh Hashanah, despite claiming a valid lease and buyback rights. Leaders say they're scrambling for temporary worship space and help retrieving religious artifacts while the lawsuit over the 80-year home proceeds.
   

2. Woman charged for pulling knife in elevator on fellow female apartment resident: Cleveland Heights Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Recent Cleveland Heights police calls included a Severance Towers resident accused of pulling a knife on another woman in an elevator and several other neighborhood incidents, from a stolen gun on Berkshire to gunfire on Cedarbrook. Officers also handled a Coventry Road public urination citation, a Silsby Road warrant suspect who fled, and a domestic violence arrest on Euclid Heights.
   

3. Meet Cuyahoga County's Heritage Tree (news5cleveland.com) — A new White Oak designated as Cuyahoga County's Heritage Tree has been planted at Lake View Cemetery, right where Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and East Cleveland meet, with Mayor Jim Petras among the dignitaries. Part of the America 250-Ohio project, the tree is meant to honor local history and environmental sustainability, creating a living landmark Cleveland Heights residents can visit for generations.
   

4. Join the next generation of neighborhood leaders (heightsobserver.org) — Cleveland Heights and University Heights residents can now apply for FutureHeights' free Neighborhood Leadership Workshop Series, starting Oct. 25 and running through five Sunday afternoon sessions. The program helps neighbors build practical leadership skills, connect across different parts of the Heights, and learn how to tackle local issues and projects together using shared tools and resources.
   

5. Woman believed to be high on crack while shopping at Meijer with her children (cleveland.com) — Richmond Heights police say they arrested a 33-year-old Cleveland Heights woman at Meijer after finding drug paraphernalia in her car and learning she had allegedly smoked crack earlier that day while shopping with her two children. The kids, ages 6 and 10, were turned over to their grandmother, and the woman faces a child endangerment charge that may concern Cleveland Heights families watching regional safety issues.
