Lakewood seeks public feedback on updated Becks Pool renovation plans (cleveland.com) — Lakewood is asking residents to weigh in on new concept plans to turn Becks Pool at Madison Park into a larger family-friendly aquatic complex, with separate areas for lap swimming, recreation, and young children. Updated drawings and a second online feedback form are posted on the city's project website, and residents can submit comments through Monday, Sept. 7.
   

2. FirstEnergy responds with plans to improve Lakewood power reliability after PUCO investigation (news5cleveland.com) — Lakewood officials are pressing FirstEnergy to deliver real fixes after years of frequent local power outages and a new PUCO investigation proposing a $3 million forfeiture. The utility outlines grid upgrades and better reporting, but Mayor Meghan George and Councilman Tom Bullock remain skeptical, opposing a proposed rate hike and vowing to keep regulators involved if reliability doesn't improve.
   

3. Sicksense announce 2026 North American tour (nextmosh.com) — Metal band Sicksense is bringing its 2026 North American tour to Lakewood, with a November 22 show at The Foundry featuring songs from their upcoming EP, Funerals. Fans can already grab tickets online and pre-order the new release ahead of the late-fall concert swing through Ohio and beyond.
   

4. How Dolly Parton left an enduring imprint on Ohio, her 'second state' (cleveland.com) — Ohio is remembering Dolly Parton's deep ties to the state, from family visits and concerts to her Imagination Library that now serves more than 400,000 Ohio children. Lakewood's own Sen. Nickie Antonio helped honor that impact by sponsoring a special license plate and says Parton's books and message of acceptance connected her to a whole new generation of Ohioans.
   

5. 19-year-old charged with arson in fire that gutted historic Cleveland church (cleveland.com) — A 19-year-old Lakewood resident has been charged with arson after investigators say he and others started a fire that gutted a historic, long-vacant Cleveland church. Officials describe the blaze as intentionally set during so-called "urban exploring," drawing nearly 70 firefighters and causing extensive structural damage but with no indication of insurance fraud motives.
