📰 News we're reading

• Lakewood begins Lakewood Park's parking lot project (cleveland.com) — Construction is underway in the Lakewood Park parking lot, with about $200,000 in concrete and asphalt repairs planned near Foster Pool and several parking areas over roughly three weeks. The lot should mostly remain open, but sections will be blocked off at times as crews address curb and pavement issues before winter, so plan for minor disruptions when visiting the park.

• Gatling, Bolden Led Lakewood To Dramatic Comeback Win Over Bay (lakewoodobserver.com) — Lakewood Rangers fans just saw one of the program's greatest comebacks, as the team erased a 19-point deficit to beat Bay 36-35 in overtime and improve to 6-1. Standouts Simmie Bolden and Tyrese Gatling powered the rally, and the Rangers now head home to face Normandy with momentum and renewed community pride.

• Lakewood City Council taking a look at city's Flock contract (cleveland.com) — Lakewood officials are reexamining the city's five-year, $125,000-a-year Flock license plate reader contract, focusing on privacy, data sharing with federal agencies, and potential misuse. Residents worried about surveillance, immigrants, or abortion-related data are invited to a public safety committee meeting at City Hall on Oct. 12 to review and possibly tweak Lakewood's specific policy.
