Washington County Sheriff's office announces new Mounted Unit (newsandsentinel.com) — Washington County's sheriff has launched a new volunteer Mounted Unit based in Marietta, with riders using their own horses to boost community outreach and assist at big events. Members have already trained and appeared at the River City Farmers Market, and they're expected at the Sternwheel Festival and county fair while preparing for possible search-and-rescue roles.

Voices of Valor: Following in his parents' footsteps, Woods served, continues to help veterans (newsandsentinel.com) — Marietta's AMVETS Post 1788 commander Larry Woods, a 26-year Army and Navy Reserve veteran, continues serving local veterans through multiple Marietta-based organizations and the Washington County Honor Guard. 3. Four local graduates receive Appalachian Ohio scholarships (mariettatimes.com) — A Marietta student and three other Washington County graduates have earned competitive scholarships from the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, sharing in more than $870,000 awarded across the region. The awards, including the Jennifer Garrison Public Service Scholarship, will help local graduates pursue degrees at schools like Ohio State, Syracuse, Marshall, and Ohio University.
   

4. Meet Luke Giffen: 2nd in the world for Pokémon TCG Juniors (wtap.com) — A young Pokémon Trading Card Game standout who trains at 740 Hobby in Marietta just finished second in the world at the junior championships in San Francisco. The story highlights how the Marietta game shop and its owner supported his rise, his experience at the tournament, and what this achievement means for his future in competitive play.
   

5. Rep. Ritter Highlights Biennial Ohio House High School Student Art Exhibition Awardee (ohiohouse.gov) — Marietta-based State Rep. Kevin Ritter is spotlighting District 94 student Lily Paris, whose artwork was chosen for the Ohio House High School Student Art Exhibition. The biennial show, displayed between the Vern Riffe Center and Statehouse, features one student artist from each House district and invites Ohio art teachers to submit future entries.
