2. Toledo officials explore rapid bus transit along Monroe Street (wtol.com) — Toledo officials and TARTA are studying a bus rapid transit line along Monroe Street, with more frequent buses, permanent stations, and possible dedicated lanes from Sylvania through downtown Toledo to Oregon. The project aims to better connect residents to jobs, medical appointments, shopping, and key destinations like Franklin Park Mall, ProMedica, and downtown while potentially spurring new investment along the corridor.
3. Brent Industries no-shows public hearing 15 days after the deadly explosion at the former facility (wtol.com) — Toledo officials told residents that ongoing air and water testing after the deadly Brent Industries explosion has not found a public health threat, but neighbors remain worried about odors, soot, and limited communication. City council members pressed the administration and the company for better transparency, complete worker rosters, and accountability, while promising more neighborhood meetings as cleanup and the investigation continue.
4. University of Toledo Federal Credit Union opens new branch at Heatherdowns and Eastgate (13abc.com) — A new University of Toledo Federal Credit Union branch has opened at Heatherdowns and Eastgate, aiming to better serve the many members who live nearby. With more than 5,000 members and several campus locations already, the credit union says this spot will make everyday banking more convenient for south Toledo residents.
