Youngstown woman receives Hispanic Ohioan Award from Ohio Latino Affairs Commission (mahoningmatters.com) — A Youngstown educator and community organizer, Paulina Montaldo, has been named a Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan by the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission, the only honoree from Youngstown. As founder of Somos Youngstown and a teacher at Ursuline High School, she's being recognized for elevating local Hispanic voices and culture through education, translation work, and community storytelling.

BCI clears Howland officer in Youngstown shooting (vindy.com) — A state investigation has cleared a Howland officer in last year's Youngstown attic shooting on Rush Boulevard, with Mahoning County prosecutors finding his use of force justified. The report details how officers tracked armed suspect Arthur Mitchell, the attic confrontation, and subsequent confirmation of his death, while noting Mitchell's outstanding charges in North Carolina.
   

3. American Made Singer-Songwriter Series Returning to YSU (businessjournaldaily.com) — Country music fans in Youngstown can catch top songwriters this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in YSU's Ford Theater, where Bob DiPiero, Blessing Offor, and JT Harding will share songs and stories. Tickets are $75, with parking available on Wick Avenue, and all proceeds support Compass Family & Community Services and its Sojourner House domestic violence program.
   

4. YSU Human Resources Students Earn Recognition (businessjournaldaily.com) — Youngstown State University's SHRM student chapter has earned the 2025–26 SHRM Superior Merit Award, marking its seventh straight national honor. The group stood out for professional development events, partnerships with the Western Reserve SHRM chapter, outreach to area high schools, and campus service projects like a hygiene drive supporting fellow YSU students.
