Gardening Talks! Gardening 101 - Basics for the Southern Coast

Join us for the opening reception of our next Quarterly Art Show! The reception will be held Sunday, April 19, from 2-4 p.m. in the Southern Coos Hospital lobby. Everyone is welcome! There will be live music by the Little Match Girls, refreshments, and the Gift Shop will be open. We will also be honoring longtime Southern Coos Health Foundation Board member Mary Wilson, who has retired from the Board.The theme for this show is "Oregon:&nbsp;Shades of Green."&nbsp;Our featured artist is Corrina Trigg and there are many lovely paintings, photographs and mixed media pieces by local artists on display, with most of them offered for sale. Come check it out! Can't make it on Sunday?&nbsp;The show is available for viewing during regular hospital hours or visit our website at www.southerncoos.org/art-shows. The art show will be on display through June 27.

I’m a retired newspaper reporter, columnist, photographer and editor who worked at weeklies and small dailies, mostly in Eastern Oregon. I retired from the East Oregonian, published in Pendleton, in 2011. During my career I worked at the Oregon Journal, Portland’s afternoon daily; The Bulletin in Bend; edited The Redmond Spokesman, 1975-1977; edited the Democrat-Herald in Baker, 1977-1984; city editor at the Grants Pass Daily Courier, 1984-85; edited the Newport News-Times/Lincoln County Leader, 1985-1988; Sunday editor at the Herald &amp; News, Klamath Falls, 1988-89; returned as editor of the Democrat-Herald, where I worked from 1989-1999. While there, we changed the newspaper’s name to the Baker City Herald because city voters decided to change the city’s name from Baker to the historic name, Baker City. I worked for the weekly Record-Courier in Baker from 1999-2001, then started my own publishing company. In 2003, I joined the staff at the East Oregonian, Pendleton, and retired from the newspaper business in 2011.
