• Portland Area Man Gets 18 Years In Prison For Killing A Good Samaritan (kxl.com) — A Portland man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, plus post-prison supervision, for fatally shooting Good Samaritan Aaron McInnis after an incident near Normandale Park in Northeast Portland. Prosecutors say McInnis was helping check on a woman in distress when he was shot, and they publicly honored him as a hero during the sentencing.

• Housing Chair Avalos and Vice Chair Green Invite Portlanders to Participate in the First Renters' Feedback Forum (portland.gov) — Portland renters are being invited to speak directly with city councilors at a Renters' Feedback Forum on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2026, at City Hall and online. The session, part of the Housing & Permitting Committee meeting, will focus on affordability, code enforcement, and tenant protections amid high rent burdens. You can testify in person, virtually, or submit written comments.
