• Bethlehem data center rules pass first vote 7-0 as residents call them only a start (lehighdaily.com) — Bethlehem City Council has unanimously advanced the city's first zoning rules for data centers, adding public hearings, impact studies, and large setbacks from homes and schools, with a final vote set for Oct. 20. The rules won't affect the already-proposed Industrial Drive data center, which faces a key Planning Commission hearing Nov. 12 where residents can still weigh in.

• Kerry Opens Coffee-Derived Ingredients Manufacturing Facility in Pennsylvania (food-safety.com) — A new Kerry coffee extraction plant has just opened in Bethlehem, bringing the company's first Pennsylvania manufacturing site and new production jobs to town. The facility will supply coffee ingredients to East Coast customers, using technology aimed at cutting carbon emissions and supporting certified sourcing programs. Local food and beverage businesses could benefit from easier access to specialty coffee ingredients.

• Rowan Men's Cross Country's time at Paul Short run cut short due to heat (thewhitonline.com) — A major college cross country meet at Lehigh University in Bethlehem was cut short because of dangerous heat, after Rowan University's men's team had already completed its 8K race. The event drew hundreds of runners and big-name schools, giving young athletes experience in unusually tough conditions on a prominent local course.
