5 Fun Things To Do This Weekend In Bucks County

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The second weekend in August is packed with fun in Bucks County, highlighted by a celebration of America in Newtown and the 2-day New Hope Automobile Show.

Newtown will be pulling out all the stops on Saturday as it Celebrates America 250 with a full day of living history, including the re-enactment of the Battle of the Bird-In-Hand in the center of town, a 21-gun salute, living history events, and lots more.

Meanwhile, New Hope will be marking a summertime tradition with its two-day car show, taking place on the grounds of the New Hope School District on Bridge Street. This year's show celebrates the 100th anniversary of Mercedes-Benz and Ducati.

And for all you pickleball lovers, the Picklr in Newtown will be opening its doors for open play on Saturday as clubs nationwide celebrate National Pickleball Day with Courtside Bash '26.

Newtown Celebrates America 250 With Events

On Saturday, Historic Newtown will come alive with Revolutionary War reenactments, Civil War and African American history presentations, living historians, historic site activations, family activities, demonstrations, and interactive experiences during Newtown Celebrates America 250, a free community celebration commemorating America's 250th Anniversary. Presented by the Newtown Historic Association and community partners, the event will transform Newtown's historic district into a living history experience and will be highlighted by the re-enactment of the Battle at the Bird-In-Hand.

New Hope Auto Show Rolls Into Town

A summertime tradition will shift into gear this weekend as New Hope Helping presents the 2026 edition of the New Hope Automobile Show on the grounds of the New Hope-Solebury High School. The show is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, and Sunday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of New Hope-Solebury High School. For 69 years, some of the finest antique and classic automobiles in the country have made their way to New Hope to be judged for authenticity, originality, cleanliness, and condition.

Free Open Play On National Pickleball Day

In celebration of National Pickleball Day on Saturday, Picklr, the largest indoor pickleball brand in North America, will open its clubs nationwide to the public for Courtside Bash 2026. From noon to 6 p.m., the event invites players of all levels to enjoy free open play, music, and community fun at their local club with no membership required. According to the club, Courtside Bash ‘26 will feature paddle-up rotations throughout the day, making it easy for players to jump into the action. Guests can walk in, place a paddle on the rack, and join the next available game.

Salon Closes Out "Ideology Of Revolution"

To close out its current exhibition, "Ideology of Revolution," ArtWRKD invites the public to "An Afternoon Salon" on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The salon will be a celebratory gathering honoring the exhibiting artists, the ArtWRKD community, and the many conversations that have unfolded throughout the exhibition's run. Presented in conjunction with Newtown Borough's America 250 Celebration, the salon offers visitors the opportunity to spend an afternoon engaging directly with artists, reflecting on the themes of the exhibit, and celebrating the role of art in civic life.

Free Admission Sunday At The Michener

The Michener Art Museum offers free admission on Sunday as part of its Second Sunday program. Between 12 and 5 p.m. on August 9, visitors are invited to explore the museum, including its featured exhibit, "The Crossing," featuring 200 years of Washington Crossing in art. Docents are available in the galleries for family-focused tours. Generous support for Second Sundays is provided by Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program. Museum admission for children ages 5 and under is always free.
