The first weekend in June is packed with fun things to do, including Dublin's Community Day and a "Rock The Block" party in Doylestown.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — With the unofficial arrival of summer and the nation's 250th birthday coming up in July, the first weekend in June is packed with things to do around Bucks County.

A "Visions of America" exhibit opens at the Hicks Art Gallery at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown. Sand sculptures are back at Peddler's Village for the summer season. And a free, day-long "Rock The Block" party is planned in downtown Doylestown.

‘Visions of America’ Exhibit Opens

In celebration of America's semiquincentennial, the Hicks Art Center Gallery at the Bucks County Community College is hosting "Visions of America," an invitational group exhibition June 5 to July 25 on the Newtown Campus. The multimedia showcase seamlessly blends contemporary art with significant historical loans, brought together by local artists and cultural organizations, to capture select evolutionary moments of the country’s 250-year history told through both human and animal perspectives.

Doylestown To "Rock The Block" Saturday

The Doylestown Music Festival brings its free Rock The Block party to West Court Street on Saturday, June 6, with a full day of live music, vendors and festival activities in the borough.
Taking place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 51 West Court Street, "Rock The Block" is the signature outdoor event of the Doylestown Music Festival, featuring live music from 12 bands, local businesses, food, drinks and more in the heart of Doylestown Borough.

"Americana Music" Concert In New Hope

Bucks County native Thomas G. Waites, a Julliard School-trained actor who has starred alongside Kurt Russell and worked with legendary horror film director John Carpenter, is preparing to take the stage with his quartet, Heartbreak Waites at New Hope Winery. Set for June 7, Waites said the concert, as well as the East Coast tour that the band is launching, is in response to the “political situation we’re in."

Community Day This Weekend In Dublin

Dublin Community Day will celebrate its 25th anniversary on Saturday, June 6 with a full schedule of activities from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Square at Dublin Town Center, 123 North Main Street, Dublin. The event is planned as an evening of family fun, entertainment, activities and community connections, according to organizers. In addition, the event will celebrate the nation's 250th birthday with sparklers.

"Sights In Sand" Opens At Peddler's Village

Peddler's Village is celebrating the nation's 250th birthday with an "American Road Trip" featuring a summer-long display of giant sand sculptures. "Sights In Sand: An American Road Trip," invites visitors to experience a cross-country journey in sand with a display of sculptures created by two world-renowned master sand sculpting teams: Team Sandtastic and John Gowdy and his wife Laura Cimador-Gowdy.

Stella Hosting Weekend Dog Adoption Event

For those looking to add another furry companion to the family or become a first time paw-rent, Stella of New Hope is hosting a Dog Adoption Event in conjunction with Animal Alliance, a Lambertville, N.J.-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming homeless animals. On Saturday, June 6 from 12 to 2 p.m., Animal Alliance will be onsite with adoptable pups, giving prospective pet parents the opportunity to meet their future four-legged family member.
