Crackdown Results In Nearly 60 Speeding Citations On Route 611/202 Bypass

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Police issued close to 60 citations on Wednesday after they clocked drivers traveling at speeds of up to 92 mph on the Route 611 and 202 bypasses.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department, working in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police and Doylestown Township Police, conducted the speed enforcement detail to bring awareness to dangerous driving and to reduce high speeds along the heavily traveled roadways.

The enforcement detail was prompted by a traffic stop on a car that was clocked traveling 114 mph in a 55-mph zone on northbound Route 611.

During Wednesday's traffic enforcement, 58 citations were issued for speeds ranging between 75 and 92 mph. Several motorists were also cited after failing to move over to another lane under the Pennsylvania Move Over Law.

The "Move Over" law requires drivers to move to the opposite lane when they see emergency personnel conducting official business on the shoulder of the highway.

"Remember to follow the posted speed limit, move over for emergency vehicles, adjust your speed for traffic and road conditions, stay focused on driving and avoid distractions," said police. "Always wear your seatbelt, keep enough space between vehicles, and allow extra time to reach your destination safely."
