DOYLESTOWN, PA – Fonthill Castle’s annual 4th of July celebration has been canceled due to a forecast of extreme heat on Saturday.

Fonthill officials announced on Tuesday that after careful consideration, the difficult decision has been made to cancel this year’s July 4th celebration at Fonthill Castle due to the increasingly dangerous extreme weather forecast.

The multi-day extreme heat warning has been extended through Saturday, July 4, at 8 p.m. Fonthill's outdoor event was scheduled to take place during the peak heating hours of the day from Noon to 4 p.m.

"This property would not have had the physical means to safely provide respite in an air-conditioned environment for those who may have experienced extreme heat challenges," said event organizers. "It would have been irresponsible for us to host this event with the information that is available to us."

Out of an abundance of caution, Fonthill Castle will be closed to the public on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4. Existing ticket holders will be contacted, and refunds will be issued to their original form of payment.
