Here Are Some Fun Things To Do On A Rainy Weekend In Bucks Co.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Nor'easter has already canceled events throughout the region, but there are a handful that are still happening, all of them inside.

If you enjoy art, the 97th Annual Juried Art Show will open on Saturday at Phillips' Mill in Solebury Township, celebrating the legacy of the New Hope "Impressionists." The show continues through Nov. 1.

You can also catch the "Stella" exhibit at the Bucks County Community College in Newtown and enjoy a mandolin concert in Solebury Township.

The storm has already forced the cancellation of numerous events around the county, including Newtown Porchstock, the New Hope Arts & Crafts Festival, Warrington Day, the Potential Car Show in Newtown, Warminster Day, and the Celebrate Solebury Community Farm Tour.

Juried Show Celebrates The "Impressionists"

The Phillips’ Mill Community Association will celebrate the legacy of the New Hope Impressionists during its 97th Juried Art Show opening this weekend. The show is the most prestigious of its kind in the area, drawing crowds from beyond Bucks County during the peak fall season. Besides contemporary Impressionist work, the more than 500 pieces of art on display and for sale include drawings, paintings and works on paper, contemporary and traditional, framed and unframed; sculpture and fiber art, and ceramic sculpture. The show continues through Nov. 1.

Popular Pet Store Celebrating 25th Year

A premium pet store where dogs and cats rule will celebrate its 25th anniversary this weekend, and the public is invited to join the fun. On Saturday, Dogs & Cats Rule will be giving away gift bags to the first 50 customers at each of its stores, and throughout the day will be offering 25 percent off everything in the store (limit two per item). In addition, there will be demonstration tables, raffles, freebies, and lots more. A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for 11 a.m. at its Newtown store, where it all began a quarter of a century ago. And WPST 94.5 FM will be at the store from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. playing music and offering swag.

Chamber Players In Mandolin Concert

The Bridge Street Chamber Players will present a chamber music concert on Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 6587 Upper York Road, Solebury 18963. The Players will present a dynamic program of "Duos and Double Concerti" for mandolins. Among the works performed will be a world premiere of a new double concerto by composer and Philadelphia classical guitarist Allen Krantz for mandolin, mandola, and string ensemble.

"Seeing Stella" Exhibit Continues At Hicks

Imagine a world before Pinterest and online sites influenced design choices and tastes. That is the world the public will enter when they step inside the Hicks Art Center Gallery’s “Seeing Stella: An Installation by Jen Blazina” from now through Oct. 17 at Bucks County Community College’s Newtown Campus. The solo artist exhibition examines the life and impact of Stella Elkins Tyler (1884-1963), on whose estate the college was founded more than 60 years ago in Newtown.

Avengers Encore, Brad Pitt Highlight Movies

The Avengers Endgame is back in theaters for an encore before its series blockbuster comes out in December. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt returns in "Heart of The Beast." Halloween is featured two with "Practical Magic 2" Check local theaters for times.
